last night i went to a show at the filmore in denver, it was pennywise headlining and before them was a local band called kingrat, then athority zero then strungout from simi valley, infortunatly we thought the show started at 8 but it acctually started at 7, so we missed king rat which i was dissapointed about i was looking forward to seeing a local band, they acctually sound pretty good you can check them out here... http://www.myspace.com/kingrat
we also missed athority zero, there acctually an ok band nothing to get excited about you can here them here http://www.myspace.com/authorityzero my buddy andrew was really bummed about that cause there pretty high on his list of favorite bands.

I saw Pennywise a couple of times tons of fights with construction worker wife beater wearing types, the bars were fuller than any other band I’ve seen, & I think they were also playing with Authority Zero. Aren’t they a punk type ska band, how the fuck would I know. I was so drunk when I saw them I think I remember Bethany talking me into driving to Huntington Beach the next day…
i heard pennywise at desert breeze while going to pick up a friend to go to a punk show a couple of months ago. unfortunately their music is like bad religion now, formulaic... but now they play their crap on the radio all time and it makes me sick - well i guess i can't bitch, they did release their album for free. it would've been good to see strung out or authority zero. i got some of their shit.
what is a bigger poser someone whos gone to a pennywise show or someone who goes to those lame desert breeze concert. Death to false metal fuck you posers
i have to dissagree with you kurt, i find there new stuff to just as good as there old stuff, full of anthems and great riffs. bad religion however kinda stepped over the line to alternative, pennywise is still 3 chord, punk full of breakdowns. though i wouldnt put them on top of the best punk bands in fact i wouldnt put them towards the middle of that list but on the bottom the fact is there still punk there still good, and you are gay. just kidding.
karl athority zero is kinda ska sounding band for some songs not all of them though i wouldnt say there great but they are worth listening too. sometimes
and blastbeat shouldnt you be nursing on your fathers man boobs?
As for realsing an album for free what would it matter. I don't think bands need to do it & I'm sure it has more to do with marketing so if anything it's probably more lame than selling your album. As for Pennywise they sure do have a formula & don't stray away from it but when it comes down to it they have been playing their brand of SoCal punk since the 80's. I'm not the biggest fan but what's the point on bagging on Pennywise you listen to much worse bands like the Editors who are corporate cock suckers & a Joy Division rip off... save the punk hate for bands who deserve it like the Alkaline Trio
As for Desert Breeze that place sucks & it should be avoided, any venue big enough for Pennywise like the House Of Blues should be avoided... I'm at the point now where I only want to see a small punk rock show. The big ones make me feel like I'm being entertained & are over priced. Sure I'm not a cheap ass I'd pay 10 bucks to see a touring DIY band if we ever get a venue for them to play here in Las Vegas. But not being a cheap ass is the key to things I've known many punks who will plop 20 bucks for an over the hill punk band but will scoff at 6 bucks for a band that is just trying to make it from show to show. I actually appreciated BlastBeat's comment this time. With that said I haven't seen you at a hard core gig in years & when I did see you last you told me you heard about the Capitalist Casualties gig after the fact... tisk, tisk, tisk... excuses. Also with these free albums I don't know the deal but a lot of the bands are expecting a donation so make sure you at least give them a dollar, even if it's Nine Inch Nails...
time for another blog pussy...

What's more punk, releasing a free album or doing a cover of Outkast's "Hey Ya"? Because Pennywise does both.
Oh, and by does both I mean both men and boys.
blah blah blah pennywise... punk blah blah.. what ever fuck holes. it was a good show. and strungout is good hardcore punk from simi valley cali. but none commented on them.
I have an album or two by Strung OUt I never could get into them, but maybe I'll give them another listen tonight after work or on my way to work...
